It Ain’t Being Cocky It’s Being In Love

Being in love with yourself sounds so vain. We think of someone that takes a shit ton of selfies, always talks about themselves and puts more time into their looks then anything else. This is not self love, or at least the type of self love I’m talking about. I’m talking about truly loving who you are because that’s just it. That is who you are and you’re proud of it. Ok, this may get boring for some of you but as you know, I say what’s on my mind. The best part about a blog post? You don’t have to read it if you don’t want to. So fair warning, this shit gets real.

Our bodies are fucking crazy. If you really think about it, it’s a machine that continues to run and for most of us, it works just the way it was suppose to. Even if it doesn’t, we should still love that part of our body that starts to fail or decides it needs a break. If you were working around the clock you would want a break too. Now I’m going to get a little “California cooky hippie” on you but this is important. Sit somewhere comfortable and allow yourself to just relax. Start to feel what your body is feeling. Are you aching? In pain? Get to really know your body because this is the only one you’re going to get and you don’t want to waste your time pushing it away. Feel it. Massage it. Show it love. If showing your body love is hitting the gym to have a great physic then do it. If you love your curves and don’t give a shit what society says, own them curves. You’re beautiful and no one will ever know just how beautiful but you. No one else lives in that skin.

We’ve all heard these messages before about being confident, loving who you are and allowing yourself to be different but has anyone really told you just how to do that? Have you done the research and soul searching to find out how to truly love yourself? My journey of falling in love with myself has been over a year long process and it’s still going. I will never stop traveling that path. Soul searching, cooking myself healthy food, going to the gym and surrounding myself with positive people are just a few ways I’ve come to find inner love.

Just now as I’m writing this, I get a text from my mother that simply says “Love you”. Besides the obvious “Love you too Momma”, I can’t help but think, “Yea…I know”. How could she not love me? Yes I’m her baby and she will always have unconditional love for me but I have a lot to offer. I care for her, I have a good heart, I’m always there to help her in any way I can, I’m driven, I have goals, I’m outgoing and fun and I’m just a badass, duh! Ok really. These are feelings we should have about ourselves. We need to be our own coaches and continue to show ourselves daily love. Be the kings and queens of your life. Stand tall and strut your stuff like the beautiful human being you are. If someone doesn’t like it, it ain’t hard to give a polite little wave and say “uh buh bye”. You give off the positive and self love vibes, you’ll get it back tenfold. Self love is the best love (insert protesting straight arm fist pump here).
